The decision to ban polluting chemicals that have greener options will reduce the US' carbon emissions by up to 42 million tonnes by 2020

THE FIGHT against poliovirus continues around the world. Since May 2014, the spread of wild poliovirus has been reported in Asia (from Pakistan to Afghanistan in June) and in the Americas (from Equatorial Guinea). Recognising that international spread of polio continues to be a healthrisk to nations that are poliofree, the World Health Organization has recommended that all travellers receive a dose of polio vaccine between four weeks and 12 months prior to international travel. It said that countries should officially declare that the interruption of poliovirus transmission is a national public health emergency and that a coordinated international response is essential to eradicate the disease.
