The Narendra Modi government plans to restructure the Food Corporation of India. Is this a wise step?

Down to Earth - - LETTERS -

It is better to start afresh than to awaken a 60-year-old rustic mammoth. A proper work culture can only be enforced through new initiatives.

SYED RAZA IMAM RIZVI This is an excellent step by the government. Hope the new setup would focus more on effective distribution of foodgrains.

PRAVANJAN MOHAPATRA This is a much-needed move. The previous governments never took any effective step to stop food wastage during storage. Millions of poor in the country went hungry while foodgrains were rotting at FCI godowns.

SHAKEEL MAKARANI Restructuring FCI will be an uphill task because those who gain from the enterprise are hand in glove with corrupt politicians and bureaucrats.

INDRANI GHOSH The Food Corporation of India is nothing but a white elephant.
