Forest officials in the Philippines claim to have broken an Indian record of planting maximum number of trees in a day. The country witnessed planting of 3.2 million seedlings in an hour recently. The Indian record, set on August 15, 2011, was 1.9 million. The drive in the Philippines was under a national forestation programme initiated by the country's president. Some 160,000 people, including government employees and students, took part in the drive that also aimed at getting a mention in the Guinness World Records.
