In­di­a­con­sumes­more­fat­now

sur­vey of the Na­tional Sam­ple Sur­vey Of­fice shows that con­sump­tion of fat has in­creased sig­nif­i­cantly in In­dia. The sur­vey found an in­crease of al­most 10 g of fat per per­son per day in the past 18 years in both ru­ral and ur­ban ar­eas. While the in­take in ru­ral In­dia has risen from 31.4 g per day in 199394 to 41.6 g in 2011-12, for ur­ban ar­eas it has gone up from 42 g to 52.50 g dur­ing the same pe­riod. The in­crease in Andhra Pradesh, As­sam, Bi­har, Chhattisgarh, Gu­jarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kar­nataka, Ker­ala, Mad­hya Pradesh, Ma­ha­rash­tra, Odisha, Pun­jab, Ra­jasthan, Tamil Nadu, Ut­tar Pradesh and West Ben­gal ranges from 5-6 g in 1993-94 to 17-18 g in 2011-12.
