The ban on Maggi by some states af­ter they found im­per­mis­si­ble quan­ti­ties of lead and a flavour en­hancer has once again shifted the fo­cus to lapses that ex­ist in In­dia's food safety stan­dards. From nutri­tion la­belling to un­reg­u­lated advertising of junk food, many loop­holes need im­me­di­ate pol­icy in­ter­ven­tion. A mul­ti­di­men­sional ap­proach by in­dus­try and gov­ern­ment could of­fer a so­lu­tion
