The cover story, Big Idea (1-15 July, 2015), on jack­fruit was wellar­tic­u­lated. It is heart­en­ing to see the un­tir­ing cam­paign of the few ad­vo­cates of this fruit. The ideas put forth are very prac­ti­cal and work­able. City-dwellers hes­i­tate to use and cook jack­fruit as the pro­cess­ing is cum­ber­some. As pointed out, if ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat prod­ucts are avail­able in the mar­ket, it will be a great suc­cess. Com­pared to im­ported and chem­i­cally-ripened fruits, jack­fruit is bet­ter and safer. ARI­JIT CHAT­TER­JEE
