Down to Earth - - APPRAISAL -

The Centre for Climate Change Research (cccr) was established by the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences (moes) in 2009 with an aim to improve the skill and capacity of scientists in the country so that they can address scientific issues pertaining to climate change. For this, our team of 30 scientists has adopted a two-pronged strategy: one, to improve capacity in Under the Physics and Dynamics of Tropical Clouds programme of iitm,we study mechanisms of convection and circulation that result in cloud formation and rainfall. We also try to better understand the relation between pollution and cloud formation and how pollution affects rainfall. Our other area of research is the implications and applications of aerosols. We
