Child mor­tal­ity drops world­wide

The world's child mor­tal­ity rates have dropped by 53 per cent from 1990 to 2015, ac­cord­ing to a joint re­port by WHO, UNICEF and the World Bank. This means that roughly one-third of the world's coun­tries have met the Mil­len­nium De­vel­op­ment Goals tar­get while an­other 74 coun­tries have re­duced rates by half. How­ever, child mor­tal­ity re­mains. Five in 10 global un­der­five deaths oc­cur in Sub-Sa­ha­ran Africa, while three in 10 oc­cur in south Asia
