This refers to the cover story Many people in India still consider that a toilet in the building compound makes it impure. Such people think that open defecation is more hygienic. We need grass roots-level campaigns to educate
such people about the number of diseases that can be avoided by basic cleanliness, and how spending on toilets is as important as spending on other infrastructure. In fact, we don't need to build temples, mosques, churches or gurdwaras. Toilets with good water facilities are the need of the hour.
