Yasir, a co­conut-seller in Delhi's trans-Ya­muna neigh­bour­hood of Mayur Vi­har, runs his busi­ness from in­side a mosquito net as dengue fever grips the na­tional cap­i­tal. Ac­cord­ing to the Na­tional Vec­tor Borne Dis­ease Con­trol Pro­gramme, 15,099 peo­ple across the coun­try have al­ready been in­fected with dengue since the mon­soon sea­son be­gan this year. Till the mag­a­zine went to print, the dis­ease had claimed one life in Delhi and seven in West Ben­gal. At least 220 peo­ple had suc­cumbed to the vec­tor-borne fever last year.
