Come October 2, polythene items will be banned inside heritage monuments
Ministry of Tourism has decided to ban polythene bags from monuments protected by the Archaeological Survey of India from October 2. Vendors selling eatables will also not be allowed to enter within a 100-metre radius of these monuments, such as the Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Qutb not be allowed to carry even food packaged in plastic wrappers inside the monuments. They will, however, be permitted to carry water bottles Culture, Mahesh Sharma, told media. Violators will not be penalised for the first two months but a decision could be taken later to introduce a fine.
