The enchanted vale
Down To Earth's photographer Vikas Choudhary travels to Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. Here lies a valley whose residents are happy, selfsufficient and traditional despite their contact with the outside world. In his photographs, Choudhary captures the unique culture of the Apatani tribe: their community-tended and non-mechanised paddy fields, the fish reared in them, cuisine, handicrafts and almost-idyllic everyday life. It is like Choudhary has stepped into a Shangri La.
