Fight summer flames with the forest flame

Down to Earth - - EDITOR’S PAGE -

Palash or flame-of-theforest is native to the Indian subcontinent. Its bright orange-red flowers that bloom every spring around the Hindu festival of Holi have several therapeutic properties. They relieve urinary and menstrual problems. But more than that, they are natural coolants and provide protection from sunstroke. Recipes from our book First Food show how the flowers can be used to make a sherbet that can fight the summer flames.
