Discontinued HCL branded computing products business

FY15 was yet another challenging year for HCL Infosystems as revenues continued to tumble southwards for the third consecutive year. The major organizational and structural changes initiated in FY14 and the decision to discontinue the computing products business (HCL branded PCs and tablets) led to the decline. The enterprise distribution business (HCLI’s mainstay now) though achieved good traction by adding new partners like Acer for projectors, Philips for large format displays and others across AV, information security, server and storage spaces. It achieved a significant milestone by crossing the ` 100 crore per month mark in March 2015. Further, HCLI’s Consumer Electronics & Home Appliances business also gained momentum due to increase in its channel ecosystem and coverage footprint.

On the consumer distribution front, HCLI tied up with Strontium, a PC and flash memory vendor and also extended its engagement with Nokia India SalesPrivate (a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobile OY) to distribute Microsoft Lumia and Nokia devices

and accessories across India. It also entered a strategic alliance with Lenovo India to sell and support Lenovo’s entire portfolio of PCs and tablets through its wholly owned subsidiary Digilife Distribution and Marketing Services (DDMS). In FY15 only, Premkumar Sheshadri took over as the new MD; channel veteran Bimal Das from Ingram and services veteran Biswanath Bhattacharya from HP also cae on board.
