SMART CITIES FROM CISCO
Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT): Using a robust network infrastructure, Cisco helped GIFT-City integrate its application platform with Cisco® network equipment as well as security and surveillance. A unique feature of this integration is its centralized city command and control center. It intelligently connects, monitors, and manages the use of precious resources such as water and power, and citizen services such as security and surveillance, through one technology platform. By combining the intelligent building management system with the infrastructure management system, this center can ensure users get the best services in utilities and simplifies the operations for city managers. And as GIFT-City strives to be India’s first financial hub, the control center also helps ensure it stays connected at all times. With the highly secure and resilient IT infrastructure built for IoE, GIFT-City is slated to become a site for holistic economic growth and a haven for global financial corporations.
Lucknow: With a vision to implement a holistic and integrated surveillance system in Lucknow, the Government of UP aligned with Cisco for a connected physical security solution that transformed the way people, property and infrastructure in the city would be protected. A video surveillance system was implemented in order to enhance the overall safety and security of city, address concerns pertaining to likely violation of law and order, traffic violations, turnaround time for crime resolution and act as an aid to investigation. Cisco’s integrated architecture captures video data from all IP cameras for intelligent data processing to create policy-based actionable information which can be communicated to the relevant personnel for implementing on site. The solution included latest video surveillance and analytics technology to provide live camera updates and alerts and ensures that no security breaches are missed due to human error or oversight. Part of the solution are IP based outdoor security cameras located across the city which have the ability to monitor, detect, alert and record attacks, theft, vehicular movement, human movement, etc. The video surveillance data from various cameras deployed at strategic locations in the city was stored, monitored and analyzed in a centralized control room. This in turn has had a direct impact on citizens and has transformed their lives. Lucknow Deployment:
1. 280 IP CCTVs cameras across city. These include 70 pan-tilt-zoom, 170 fixed and 40 ANPR cameras. 2. Video analytics software for effective detection and alerts 3. Mobile surveillance van equipped with night vision cameras; the cameras can extend up to 3 metre over the vehicle to capture members of a violent mob 4. Integration with about 300 cameras installed by businessmen and traders across important crossing

Navi Mumbai: Using a Cisco® IP-based city surveillance system and analytics, Navi Mumbai can now record footage at various points in the city and analyze it instantly. Running on a Cisco network, this solution provides live camera updates and alerts so that security breaches are not missed due to human error or oversight. By integrating the CCTV command center with the local police control room, local authorities can use the recorded footage to help prevent accidents. Officials can also more effectively manage traffic and investigate criminal incidents. With its new infrastructure, Navi Mumbai is a more connected city, using digital technology to increase public safety.
Jaipur: Jaipur, one of India’s most popular global travel destinations, will now embrace the benefits of connectivity and digitisation to transform itself into a Smart+Connected™ city. The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has chosen to develop smart city infrastructures that will improve the efficiency and quality of services received by its 3.5 million residents and over 40 million tourists who visit the city every year. With this launch, Jaipur becomes one of the first state capitals in India to showcase a comprehensive roadmap to become a worldclass smart city. JDA will set up the digital infrastructure to offer citizens amenities including connected transport, interactive kiosks, wireless broadband, safety and security services, traffic management and environmental updates. The organisation will install an urban platform of sensors which allows for the sharing of information, giving added value to citizens. JDA will also setup a Command and Control Centre as well as a Response Control Room to manage the city with greater efficiency and effectiveness. The Digital India program of the government is focused on the digital empowerment of citizens, where infrastructure will be offered as a utility to every citizen, governance and services would be on demand, and citizens would be digitally empowered.
