L&T bags order for supercritical plant
Larsen & Toubro has secured a turnkey order for setting up the 2x660-mw Shree Singaji supercritical thermal power project (Stage-II) from the state utility Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd. The unit-wise completion schedule of the project is 43 and 47 months, respectively.
Valued over Rs.5,100 crore, the project order covers design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of two coal-fired thermal units of 660-mw each with supercritical parameters. The project is located near village Dongalia in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
The state utility had earlier placed an EPC balance of plant order for two units of 600-mw each for Stage-I of the same power plant.
L&T is currently executing multiple large EPC/BTG/BOP power projects in India and abroad. L&T has established joint ventures with Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd., Japan, a global leader, for manufacture of supercritical boilers and turbines at its complex in Hazira, Gujarat. In the supercritical segment, L&T has also set up manufacturing capabilities in Hazira for power plant auxiliaries including high pressure piping, coal pulverizers, fans, air preheaters, feed-water heaters, condensers, electrostatic precipitators and heavy forgings.
