L&T bags or­der for su­per­crit­i­cal plant

Larsen & Toubro has se­cured a turnkey or­der for set­ting up the 2x660-mw Shree Singaji su­per­crit­i­cal ther­mal power project (Stage-II) from the state util­ity Mad­hya Pradesh Power Gen­er­at­ing Company Ltd. The unit-wise com­ple­tion sched­ule of the project is 43 and 47 months, re­spec­tively.

Val­ued over Rs.5,100 crore, the project or­der cov­ers de­sign, en­gi­neer­ing, man­u­fac­ture, sup­ply, erec­tion and com­mis­sion­ing of two coal-fired ther­mal units of 660-mw each with su­per­crit­i­cal pa­ram­e­ters. The project is lo­cated near vil­lage Don­galia in the Khandwa dis­trict of Mad­hya Pradesh.

The state util­ity had ear­lier placed an EPC bal­ance of plant or­der for two units of 600-mw each for Stage-I of the same power plant.

L&T is cur­rently ex­e­cut­ing mul­ti­ple large EPC/BTG/BOP power projects in In­dia and abroad. L&T has es­tab­lished joint ven­tures with Mit­subishi Hi­tachi Power Sys­tems, Ltd., Ja­pan, a global leader, for man­u­fac­ture of su­per­crit­i­cal boil­ers and tur­bines at its com­plex in Hazira, Gu­jarat. In the su­per­crit­i­cal seg­ment, L&T has also set up man­u­fac­tur­ing ca­pa­bil­i­ties in Hazira for power plant aux­il­iaries in­clud­ing high pres­sure pip­ing, coal pul­ver­iz­ers, fans, air pre­heaters, feed-wa­ter heaters, con­densers, elec­tro­static pre­cip­i­ta­tors and heavy forg­ings.
