The electrical equipment sector and ancillary industries have good reason to cheer as the government has reiterated its commitment to step on the procurement drive. Delivering Elecrama’s inaugural speech on February 13, 2016, Piyush Goyal, Minister for State for Power (Independent Charge), summed up the sentiment when he said, We are really looking at high quality products coming out of your industry.” Goyal said the government will soon begin large-scale procurement of distribution transformers and smart meters.
