FDI in electronics manufacturing touched ` 1230 billion in 2016
Electronics and IT Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, said foreign direct investment (FDI) in electronics manufacturing has touched an all-time high of ` 1230 billion in 2016 on the back of the government’s enabling policies and its ‘Make in India’ initiative. In 2014, FDI stood at ` 110 billion.
Apart from the electronics manufacturing clusters, the government is offering a better tax regime and incentives like MSIPS. The government has also removed the basic customs duty (10 per cent) and special additional duty (4 per cent) that had been proposed for chargers, adapters, batteries and wired headsets.
