Lohit becomes first district to launch energy efficient UJALA scheme in Arunachal Pradesh
Lohit became the first district in Arunachal Pradesh to launch energy efficient LED bulbs and LED tubelights, procured at subsidised rates under the UJALA programme of the central government.
With this, 9W LED bulbs and 20W LED tubelights will now cost a minimum of ` 70 and
` 230, respectively, a marked reduction from the current market prices. The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (ESSL), a public energy services company under the Centre’s Ministry of Power, has tied up with the APEDA (Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Authority) to launch the scheme across the state. Interestingly, although the scheme is yet to be formally launched,
Lohit has got a head start by becoming the first district to implement it.
