Centre distributes over 100,000 LED bulbs in Chandigarh
Medininagar, Dumka, Adityapur and Mango. It has started by putting up 2500 LED bulbs for the Shravani mela and 700 for the state’s global investors’ summit on an emergency basis. The Centre has distributed over 100,000 LED bulbs under the UJALA scheme in the city of Chandigarh. Along with this, 15,000 20W LED tubelights as well as 5,000 BEE 5-star rated energy efficient fans have also been distributed in the city.
Saurabh Kumar, MD, EESL, said the target is to make Chandigarh a 100 per cent energy efficient city. Under the UJALA scheme, consumers in the city can buy four LED bulbs, four LED tubelights and four BEE 5-star rated energy efficient fans. The price of each LED bulb is ` 60 as against the market price of ` 300350; each LED tubelight is priced at ` 230, and the fan is priced at ` 1,150.
