ELECTRONICS SECTOR SKILLS COUNCIL OF INDIA (ESSCI)
The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) is a not-for-profit organisation, registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956. The Council is promoted by six industry associations—CEAMA, ELCINA, IESA (formerly ISA), IPCA, MAIT and ELCOMA, with financial support from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
ESSCI focuses on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting outcomeoriented skills for the electronics system design and manufacturing industry (ESDM). Its mandate comprises deliverables such as the development of curricula/courses, an information database and delivery systems. ESSCI is responsible for the standardisation, accreditation and certification processes that will help to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce, globally.
ESSCI strives to establish a structured mechanism, wherein it will facilitate and collaborate with NSDC to strengthen the existing vocational education and training system for skills development in the electronics sector, and also upgrade it to achieve global standards in manpower productivity.
To do this, it is building a robust ecosystem of partners and knowledge contributors, and developing a training mechanism that will lead to the accreditation and certification of trained resources. ESSCI has over 157 training partners with over 1750 training centres across the country, all of which are well equipped to undertake skills development across job roles in all segments of ESDM. ESSCI has developed 156 Qualification Packs (QPs) and 450 National Occupation Standards (NOS) to cater to skills enhancement across the electronics sector. It has trained over 400,000 candidates in the above schemes so far, and aims to train over two million more in the coming two years.
