Closing in on the 5K mark, it may be time for some TLC
WE’RE NOW CLOSING IN on 5,000 klicks (4,964km to be precise) with this petrol hatch from the house of Tata and I have to say that with each passing day I appreciate the company’s efforts more and more. I think it’s one of the more spacious hatchbacks there is. Naturally, because it is both longer as well as wider than some of its competitors. Besides, Tata Motors (as is often the case with them) have managed to endow the Tiago with a generous glass area that makes the cabin feel rather roomy. However, all isn’t well with the car. The music system that we love and had praised in our long term report in the September issue, has stopped functioning and needs to be checked. Also, the fuel economy of the vehicle has dropped quite a bit and through city traffic, despite using the more economical
WEco mode. The figure indicating range on the digital trip computer has been reducing terrifyingly over the last few days. Other than that, the Tiago continues to take the rigours of daily commute quite well, thanks to its comfortable ride (it is one of the best riding cars at slow and medium speeds). Thus far there are no rattles or squeaks from anywhere and certainly no signs of fading on the plastics or paint or any other part of the car. So on the whole a couple of hiccups but nothing really to worry about.
