I-Pace goes racing
Jag will let you race on a Formula E weekend
AFTER BECOMING THE first premium carmaker to enter Formula E in 2016, Jaguar has created the world’s first production battery electric vehicle race series. Christened as Jaguar i-Pace eTrophy, it will run as a support series for the FIA Formula E championship.
Featuring I-Pace eTrophy cars, the championship will consist of a 20 car grid. The races will run parallel to the Formula E calendar, comprising cities such as Hong Kong, Paris, Sao Paulo, Berlin, Montreal and New York.
Jaguar also said that starting 2020, majority of the cars it manufactures will be electric while Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in Warwickshire, UK, will build the racecars. Technical specifications, race calendar and costs for the Jaguar i-Pace eTrophy will be released in 2018. The entry is based on first come first serve basis and registrations have already begun. The races will begin by late 2018, so get ready.
