AF­TER BE­COM­ING THE first pre­mium car­maker to en­ter For­mula E in 2016, Jaguar has cre­ated the world’s first pro­duc­tion bat­tery elec­tric ve­hi­cle race se­ries. Chris­tened as Jaguar i-Pace eTro­phy, it will run as a sup­port se­ries for the FIA For­mula E cham­pi­onship.

Fea­tur­ing I-Pace eTro­phy cars, the cham­pi­onship will con­sist of a 20 car grid. The races will run par­al­lel to the For­mula E cal­en­dar, com­pris­ing cities such as Hong Kong, Paris, Sao Paulo, Berlin, Mon­treal and New York.

Jaguar also said that start­ing 2020, ma­jor­ity of the cars it man­u­fac­tures will be elec­tric while Jaguar Land Rover Spe­cial Ve­hi­cle Op­er­a­tions (SVO) in War­wick­shire, UK, will build the race­cars. Tech­ni­cal spec­i­fi­ca­tions, race cal­en­dar and costs for the Jaguar i-Pace eTro­phy will be re­leased in 2018. The en­try is based on first come first serve ba­sis and regis­tra­tions have al­ready be­gun. The races will begin by late 2018, so get ready.
