of NSDC re­spon­si­ble for pre­par­ing In­dian team to par­tic­i­pate in World Skill Com­pe­ti­tions, in­ter­na­tion­ally has part­nered with FICCI to or­gan­ise Re­gional and Na­tional Com­pe­ti­tions, 2014 for Fash­ion Tech­nol­ogy. The short­listed can­di­date af­ter the na­tional com­pe­ti­tion will rep­re­sent In­dia at World Skills in 2015.

FICCI has part­nered with Ap­parel Train­ing and De­sign Cen­tre (ATDC) to con­duct the na­tional and re­gional com­pe­ti­tions this year. The re­gional com­pe­ti­tions at ATDC Ban­ga­lore, Kolkata, Farid­abad and Indore were huge suc­cess as com­pared to last time which were or­gan­ised only at two lo­ca­tions two years ear­lier. The com­pe­ti­tions saw in­crease in par­tic­i­pat­ing can­di­dates as com­pared to the last time and par­tic­i­pa­tion of industry ex­perts as jury for the first time.

The first leg of the com­pe­ti­tion was or­gan­ised for the south re­gion at ATDC Ban­ga­lore on April 14 and 15. About 25 can­di­dates from 12 in­sti­tutes par­tic­i­pated at the com­pe­ti­tion. The can­di­dates com­peted for six hours on the first day and worked on test mod­ule of pre­par­ing clas­sic trousers. At the end of day one, out of 25 can­di­dates, 15 were short­listed. Th­ese 15 can­di­dates com­peted on day two and worked on test mod­ule of ladies jacket. ATDC Ban­ga­lore had in­vited the jury from tex­tile Industry to judge the com­pe­ti­tion. It was tough task for them as com­pe­ti­tion ran close. Ul­ti­mately the top three can­di­dates were short­listed who will rep­re­sent the south re­gion in the na­tional com­pe­ti­tion to be held in Gur­gaon in July. The win­ner of the com­pe­ti­tion was Siva Ku­mar from An­gel In­sti­tute, Tirupur. Ka­malak­shi from M.S. Ra­ma­iah Polytech­nic stood sec­ond and Ghu­lam from Army In­sti­tute, Ban­ga­lore stood third. K Venugopal, Tech­ni­cal Del­e­gate from In­dia to World Skills In­ter­na­tional was present on both the days at the com­pe­ti­tion. At the pre­sen­ta­tion cer­e­mony, he ap­plauded ATDC Ban­ga­lore for or­gan­is­ing the com­pe­ti­tion and FICCI for do­ing nec­es­sary mar­ket­ing and an­nounce­ments. He wished the win­ners all the best for na­tional com­pe­ti­tion. Re­gional Com­pe­ti­tion – East: April 30 and May 1, 2014

The sec­ond leg of the com­pe­ti­tion was or­gan­ised for the east re­gion at ATDC Kolkata on April 30 and May 1. About 10 can­di­dates from six in­sti­tutes par­tic­i­pated in the com­pe­ti­tion. The can­di­dates com­peted for six hours on the first day and worked on test mod­ule of pre­par­ing clas­sic trousers. All the can­di­dates com­peted again on day two and worked on test mod­ule of ladies jacket. Like Ban­ga­lore re­gion, ATDC Kolkata had in­vited Jury from tex­tile industry to judge the com­pe­ti­tion. It was again a tough Re­gional Com­pe­ti­tion – South: April 14 and 15, 2014
