48th Algiers International Trade Fair: India Pavilion shows technology, services paces
F ICCI with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Indian Embassy in Algeria organised an India Pavilion 'Salam Namaste' during the 48th Algiers International Trade Fair from May 26th to June 1, 2015 in Algeria. India was given the status of Guest of Honour Country this year. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Commerce and Industry, led the Indian delegation.
The Algerian International Fair in Palais des Expositions, Algiers (SAFEX), inaugurated by the Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal on May 26, 2015, is one of the most prominent business events held every year in Algiers, Algeria, featuring large scale country specific pavilions. The Algiers trade fair offers one of the best opportunities for foreign companies to reach Algerian buyers and consumers.
After the ceremony, the Prime Minister moved to the gate of the Indian Pavilion and jointly lit the lamp to formally inaugurate the Indian Pavilion with Nirmala Sitharaman, Abedeslam Bouchouareb, Minister of Industry and Mining, Algeria and Amara Benyounes, Minister of Trade, Algeria. The Prime Minister along with the Algerian dignitaries, Indian delegation, and members of Diplomatic Corps went around the Indian Pavilions entitled 'Salaam Namaste' and appreciated the stalls put up by more than 70
Indian companies working in the areas such as machinery, tractors, automobile, auto components, tyres and butyl tubes, building and construction, granite, marble, ceramic, food and beverage, irrigation, packaging machinery and products, power transmission, electrical equipment, electronic component, engineering, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, and disposables, handicrafts, textiles etc. On the side lines of this prestigious event, India-Algeria Joint Commission Meeting also took place.
A cultural event performed by the visiting Rajasthani Troupe, courtesy ICCR added to the glitter of the show.
Various Indian companies met the Indian Commerce Minister after the inauguration and briefed her about their operations in Algeria and future plans.
Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of Vietnam also paid a visit to the India Pavilion on May 31, 2015. He was accompanied by Abedeslam Bouchouareb and Amara Benyounes.
Top Indian brands such as TATA Motors, Sonalika, Preet Tractors, L&T, IRCON, C&S Electric, Kohinoor Foods, JK International, Raymonds, Shapoorji Paloonji and Bry Air Ltd, represented India at the trade show.
The India Pavilion showcased the technological, engineering and service capabilities of Indian companies and acted as a platform for business interaction between Indian and Algerian counterparts. There were 38 countries from around the world that participated in this fair. Various Indian companies received several business leads during the show.
