Tinhe Govern­ment of Gu­jarat in as­so­ci­a­tion with FICCI or­ga­nized the 8th Vi­brant Gu­jarat Global Summit 2017, which was in­au­gu­rated by the Prime Min­is­ter of In­dia Naren­dra Modi in Gandhinagar. The summit was held from Jan­uary 10 to 13, 2017.

Prime Min­is­ter Modi while thankink the dig­ni­taries and guests for com­ing to In­dia and at­tend­ing the summit, fondly re­called the first Vi­brant Gu­jarat event in 2003, and said, “Since then, it has been a very suc­cess­ful jour­ney.”

He said that In­dia has be­come the fastest grow­ing econ­omy in the world. “The strength of In­dia lies in three Ds – Democ­racy, De­mog­ra­phy and De­mand. Ours is a na­tion of vi­brant youth. The dis­ci­plined, ded­i­cated and tal­ented youth of In­dia of­fers a glob­ally un­matched work force. We are the se­cond largest English-speak­ing coun­try. Our youth are not merely look­ing for jobs. They have be­gun tak­ing risks and of­ten pre­fer to be­come en­trepreneurs.”

The Chief Min­is­ter of Gu­jarat, Vi­jay Ru­pani, said, “It is my priv­i­lege to wel­come the au­gust gath­er­ing. Your pres­ence here re­flects our com­mit­ment to cre­at­ing the most suit­able ecosys­tem for com­pa­nies to ex­plore and in­vest in Gu­jarat.”

The Prime Min­is­ter of Por­tu­gal con­grat­u­lated the Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi and Chief Min­is­ter Vi­jay Ru­pani for cre­at­ing Vi­brant Gu­jarat. Pitch­ing for a strong so­lu­tion to cli­mate change, he said, “We must fo­cus on chal­lenges of cli­mate change and im­ple­ment Paris agree­ment. We have al­ready rat­i­fied this agree­ment. It is im­por­tant to im­ple­ment in its en­tirety. So we need to cre­ate growth with low car­bon foot­prints.”

Shar­ing an ex­cel­lent ca­ma­raderie with Prime Min­is­ter Modi, the Prime Min­is­ter of Ser­bia said, “We are very friendly to great In­dia, and the state of Gu­jarat. We want to in­vite as many com­pa­nies to Ser­bia. We are also sure that Ser­bian com­pa­nies

would find it good to in­vest in In­dia.”

Prime Min­is­ter Modi along with the Gu­jarat Chief Min­is­ter also launched a pol­icy doc­u­ment and a cof­fee ta­ble book, 'Summit of Suc­cess' at the inau­gu­ral cer­e­mony.

'Noble Di­a­logue' was or­gan­ised at Ma­hatma Mandir on Jan­uary 10, 2017. Nine No­bel Lau­re­ates par­tic­i­pated in two panel dis­cus­sions, 'Ba­sic or Ap­plied Re­search – Fos­ter­ing an In­no­va­tive En­vi­ron­ment' and 'Lo­cal Re­search, Global Im­pact: Ad­dress­ing Global Chal­lenges.

From Jan­uary 11 to Jan­uary 13, 2017, FICCI fa­cil­i­tated various theme sem­i­nars, a state sem­i­nar, coun­try sem­i­nars and various B2B meet­ings. The theme sem­i­nars in­cluded Health for In­clu­sive Devel­op­ment, MSME Clus­ters - Ba­sis of In­no­va­tion, In­clu­sion and Com­pet­i­tive­ness, Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals and Med­i­cal De­vices, Aero­space & De­fence, Tex­tiles, Plas­tics and Chem­i­cals & Petro­chem­i­cals dur­ing this pe­riod, various coun­try sem­i­nars were also or­gan­ised, with par­tic­i­pa­tion from the US, Canada, Swe­den, France, Rwanda, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Various B2B meet­ings were also held and an ac­tion sem­i­nar on In­no­va­tion, Start-ups and En­trepreneur­ship was also held on Jan­uary 11 with a fo­cus on the Start-up Pol­icy of Gu­jarat.
