Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017
Tinhe Government of Gujarat in association with FICCI organized the 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar. The summit was held from January 10 to 13, 2017.
Prime Minister Modi while thankink the dignitaries and guests for coming to India and attending the summit, fondly recalled the first Vibrant Gujarat event in 2003, and said, “Since then, it has been a very successful journey.”
He said that India has become the fastest growing economy in the world. “The strength of India lies in three Ds – Democracy, Demography and Demand. Ours is a nation of vibrant youth. The disciplined, dedicated and talented youth of India offers a globally unmatched work force. We are the second largest English-speaking country. Our youth are not merely looking for jobs. They have begun taking risks and often prefer to become entrepreneurs.”
The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, said, “It is my privilege to welcome the august gathering. Your presence here reflects our commitment to creating the most suitable ecosystem for companies to explore and invest in Gujarat.”
The Prime Minister of Portugal congratulated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani for creating Vibrant Gujarat. Pitching for a strong solution to climate change, he said, “We must focus on challenges of climate change and implement Paris agreement. We have already ratified this agreement. It is important to implement in its entirety. So we need to create growth with low carbon footprints.”
Sharing an excellent camaraderie with Prime Minister Modi, the Prime Minister of Serbia said, “We are very friendly to great India, and the state of Gujarat. We want to invite as many companies to Serbia. We are also sure that Serbian companies
would find it good to invest in India.”
Prime Minister Modi along with the Gujarat Chief Minister also launched a policy document and a coffee table book, 'Summit of Success' at the inaugural ceremony.
'Noble Dialogue' was organised at Mahatma Mandir on January 10, 2017. Nine Nobel Laureates participated in two panel discussions, 'Basic or Applied Research – Fostering an Innovative Environment' and 'Local Research, Global Impact: Addressing Global Challenges.
From January 11 to January 13, 2017, FICCI facilitated various theme seminars, a state seminar, country seminars and various B2B meetings. The theme seminars included Health for Inclusive Development, MSME Clusters - Basis of Innovation, Inclusion and Competitiveness, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, Aerospace & Defence, Textiles, Plastics and Chemicals & Petrochemicals during this period, various country seminars were also organised, with participation from the US, Canada, Sweden, France, Rwanda, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Various B2B meetings were also held and an action seminar on Innovation, Start-ups and Entrepreneurship was also held on January 11 with a focus on the Start-up Policy of Gujarat.
