Exhibitors show their paces at India Pavilion in INTERPHEX 2016
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, organized the India Pavilion at the International Pharmaceutical Expo (INTERPHEX) in New York from April 26-28, 2016, under the Market Access Initiative Scheme of the Government of India. Over 50 companies from India in the pharmaceutical sector, ranging from equipment manufacturing to packaging participated in the exhibition.
The India Pavilion was inaugurated in the presence of Riva Ganguly Das, Consul General of India, New York. This was the first time that Indian manufacturers of pharmaceutical machinery and pharmaceutical packaging participated in a specialized Fair of this magnitude in New York under the India Banner.
INTERPHEX 2016, the premier event dedicated to pharmaceutical and biotechnology innovation, technology and knowledge, has emerged as a crucial platform for showcasing the latest innovation and technologies throughout all phases of the product lifecycle, including pharma manufacturing and processing technology, bioprocess pharmaceutical systems and services. 'India Pavilion' initiative at INTERPHEX 2016 reinstates the potential of the pharmaceutical industry in India which is attracting global attention and also highlights the importance of 'Make in India' programme which is gaining recognition in India as well as abroad.
There was significant interest and footfalls in the India Pavilion as well as at the other stalls of the Indian manufacturers.
Indian exhibitors received encouraging response from visitors at the B2B meetings and have been able to get good leads and enquiries, some of which may turn into business deals in future. The participation of American Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Scientists as a partner organization has been an added advantage as they are based in New Jersey and can provide the vital links that an Indian company would need to connect with the local market. Pharmaceutical equipment manufacturing is a high potential sector which can result in both investments and increased trade with the United States.
