Mechanization Facilitates Agricultural Growth
FICCI, in association with EID Parry, organized UZHAVAN 2018 with the theme 'Enriching & Energizing Lives of Farming Community' on 30 May 2018 in Trichirappalli, Tamil Nadu, wherein focus was on topics such as yield improvement, water conservation and reducing cost of cultivation. Besides, a live demo on farm mechanization was held by Parry Bio, Shakthiman, New Holland, Coromandel, Rivulis, Honda Siel Power Products and Jain Irrigation Systems.
The event was inaugurated by Rajeswaran, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Trichy, who said that farm mechanization provides the technology to facilitate agricultural growth through efficient utilization of inputs. Adoption of mechanization ensures timeliness of agricultural operations, reduces cost of production as well as drudgery in carrying out various agricultural operations. He said equipment for various operations like tillage, sowing, irrigation, plant protection and threshing, are generally being used by the farming community. However, most of the newlydeveloped implements and costly machines have not reached farmers and machines for special operations like rice transplanting, sugarcane harvesting, coconut harvesting and pulse mechanization, need greater attention.
