Gadgets and Gizmos (India) - - CONTENTS - MAHESH KAPASI, NEW DELHI

When I read the story on mobile operating systems (“What the new mobile OS is all about”, December 2011), I realised that perhaps the mobile phone can become a weapon against terrorism. Someone can invent a phone that, perhaps with electronic waves, can smell out TRDX and other explosive materials, and determine its exact location. These can be used by investigative agencies and they can be placed at various spots—crowded places, trains, airports, on buses, etc. A beep or a red light can signal the presence of explosives. Such a mobile, if manufactured, can help the authorities locate and defuse bombs and help save innocent human lives.
