SOCIAL BACKUP
Technology is meant to make life simpler and hence it has to be devoid of any complicated processes. This is exactly what the Seagate Backup Plus portable drive does, providing a solution for something most of us would have thought impossible.
This is a regular hard-drive — we tested a 1TB one. But what sets it apart is the new Seagate Dashboard software that now lets you backup files from Facebook and Flickr. We stressed on simple because all you have to do is install the software and select the save icon which will let you log in to Facebook and Flickr. Once that is done, you can just click the icons to download all the media you have saved to these social networking sites. There is an auto backup option too. All files are saved as online document files on the drive.
It took about two hours to download all pictures from our eight-year-old Flickr Pro account, and about three hours for the Facebook account. Once you are in sync, the software will just show the new files that you have added. It works the other way round too. The software can be used to upload multiple files to these networks. It also lets you backup files to a Seagate cloud account. The drive is also available in 500GB, 2TB and 3TB options.
If you don’t have backup for all the files you have uploaded to Facebook and Flickr, this will be a great help for you. Anyway, we think it is a must have for Flickr junkies.
BAG IT OR JUNK IT?
Good option to have if you are very active on social networks.
