Close your eye and hold the Series 9 and you will be forgiven for thinking you have a tablet in your hands. Well, it is that thin—the maximum thickness is 0.64 inches while it is just .5 inches (12.9mm) at the thinnest point. It weighs just 1.16 kg, a tad heavier (about 40 gm) than the lightest Ultrabook we have seen. The Series 9 uses Duralumin, which despite being lightweight is twice as strong as aluminum. The unibody design is so seamless that is hard to detect the joints. The metallic dark grey finish is offset by the chrome edges which add to the style factor. The chrome also frames the spacious trackpad. There are grills behind the hinges and under the body for the fan.
