Speakers & Docks
Pushing music phones and portable music players out of the market, smartphones today offer great sound. But if you intend to play the music loud, then having a portable speaker or a dock is better idea than investing in a big sound system.
PHILIPS FIDELIO FOR ANDROID
Philips now has a dock for Android smartphones. The elegant Fidelio has a circular body with a microUSB connector at the top with a transparent plastic stand to give support to the phone. Being a Bluetooth wireless streaming music device, the dock only charges the phone when connected via microUSB connector. The music can only be streamed over Bluetooth, that too with the help of the Philips Fidelio App.
PIG HELMET ANGRY BIRD SPEAKER
This funky looking 2.1 stereo with iPhone dock is inspired by Angry Birds games. The sound coming from the two speakers, placed on the sides of the helmet, is amazingly loud and clear. Like other docking stations, it too charges the Apple device simultaneously. It can stream music from other smartphones using the auxiliary port.
The Jabra Solemate is ideal for the outdoors thanks to its rubber sole and sturdy front grill. There is a groove to hold the 3.5mm cord, in case you don’t want to use Bluetooth or the USB to connect this device. With so many connectivity options, you can also take calls on this device. Though small, this device has a decent sound output coming from three front facing speakers and is louder than what you would expect it to be. The battery life is good for about 10 hours of music.
LOGITECH MINI BOOMBOX
A stylish portable speaker, the Mini Boombox from Logitech is a compact speaker with music controls on the top. Charged through a mini-USB port, there is an auxiliary port and an on/off key at the back. Once charged, it can provide wire-free music for up to nine hours. This speaker is designed to boost the sound of smartphones. It also has an inbuilt mic that can be used for answering calls. With an incoming call, the music is muted automatically.
