LAST YEAR Plantronics launched the Back Beat Go, a wireless headset aimed at music lovers. It failed to impress us. The company has now come up with a successor it calls the Back Beat Go 2. On the design front, the Back Beat Go 2 looks exactly the same as its predecessor. The differences are few – the shade of gray on the ear plug; the inline remote with three buttons instead of one, which can adjust volume and change tracks in addition to answering calls; a nano coating that protects the headset from sweat and water. To our ears, the sound quality was superb. But it lacked bass. While answering calls, callers often complained of background noise when used outdoors. We got close to five hours of music playback and calls on a single charge (it took around 3 hours to get a full charge). Plantronics has added a carrying case with a battery pack at an additional cost of ` 1,000. The benefit of the compact case is that the headset is stored safely and can be charged on the move.It can charge for up to 10 hours.
