Better than Before
ove reading books? Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite 6th generation is for you.
The Paperwhite feels light and convenient to hold. A simple touch on the top of the display pops up various options – home, brightness adjustment, Kindle Store, search, goodreads, font size, go to, share, etc. Tapping at the bottom turned the page.
Amazon claims that this new reader is 25 per cent faster than its predecessor. While it did seem fast, there was a lag – rarely though – in flipping pages. Amazon has replaced the traditional e-ink display with the Carta e-ink display, where the whites now look purer and the blacks are deeper and closer to realism. The device can also be used for reading in low light. But it isn’t meant for colour graphics or viewing images. Amazon has also added an experimental browser that can be used for browsing the web.
The Paperwhite has a trustworthy battery that lasts more than a week with a couple of hours of reading everyday. It is available in two variants – Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi with 3G. The latter can be used to download books anytime, anywhere but costs Rs 3,000 more than former.
