Korean smart­phone giant Sam­sung un­veiled its new flag­ship at the Un­packed event in New York. Sam­sung aims to tide over its Note 7 bat­tery fi­asco with the launch of the Galaxy S8 which boasts larger dis­play and a new voice as­sis­tant soft­ware. The Galaxy S8 comes in two screen sizes – the 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+. Sam­sung has in­tro­duced ‘in­fin­ity dis­play’ on th­ese phones – a bezel-less dis­play that gives the il­lu­sion of a big­ger screen. The S8 also fea­tures Sam­sung’s new ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence ser­vice, Bixby, which re­sponds to voice com­mands. Sam­sung has added a 12-MP dual pixel sen­sor with F1.7 lens and large 1.4μm pix­els known to cap­ture more light. There is also an 8-MP front-fac­ing cam­era with F1.7 lens and auto fo­cus. To en­hance se­cu­rity fea­tures, Sam­sung has added an iris scan­ner along with a fin­ger­print sen­sor. It con­tin­ues to be dust and wa­ter re­sis­tant with IP68 cer­ti­fi­ca­tion. Both the mod­els have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of in­ter­nal stor­age. The Sam­sung Galaxy S8 runs on 3,000 mAh bat­tery, while the S8+ will have a 3,500 mAh bat­tery. Both the de­vices sup­port wire­less charg­ing.
