Governance Now - - BRIEFINGS -

gujarat’s Ahmedabad became the first Indian city and third in Asia to be listed on the world heritage list of the UNESCO. Founded in the 15th century, the city has 28 ASI protected monuments. The urban structures of the city are distinctive due to their puras (neighbourhoods), pols (residential streets), and khadki (inner entrances to pols) largely made of timber. meanwhile, Delhi, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and mumbai are still on the tentative list, while Varanasi has still not made any progress despite the efforts of historians and activists for the past 20 years.
