Delhi gets RTI portal, but there’s a gap

Governance Now - - BRIEFINGS -

The Delhi government has come up with its long awaited online portal for filing RTI. The portal (www.rtionline.delhi.gov.in) has been launched for 172 departments under the Delhi government. It becomes second state to enable its citizens to file the RTI online after Maharashtra. However, the portal has some limitations and may trouble you if you want to know anything pertaining to the three mcds. The portal does not facilitate the option of filing RTI applications and subsequent transfer to the three municipal corporations, New Delhi municipal council and Delhi Police. Inclusion of these public authorities in the ‘select’ option is necessary because many RTI applications received in various Delhi government offices are to be transferred to these authorities, which will have to be done manually for the time being.
