IR seeks in­puts on cy­ber se­cu­rity

Min­is­ter of rail­ways Suresh Prabhu chaired a round­table meet on ‘en­sur­ing cy­ber se­cu­rity on in­dian rail­ways’, wherein he sought in­puts from gov­ern­ment and pri­vate agen­cies in­clud­ing na­tional crit­i­cal in­for­ma­tion in­fra­struc­ture Pro­tec­tion cen­tre, Mi­crosoft and cisco, among oth­ers. Rail­ways’ crit­i­cal ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing train op­er­a­tions rely heav­ily on it sys­tems. func­tions such as tick­et­ing, freight op­er­a­tions and as­set man­age­ment too are de­pen­dent on the it. dur­ing the dis­cus­sions, ideas were ex­changed on cy­ber threats, se­cu­rity in­ci­dents and ad­vanced so­lu­tions. The cy­ber se­cu­rity mea­sures must be im­ple­mented as per ac­cept­able stan­dards in the it.
