BHEL un­veils hy­dro-elec­tric pro­ject in Mi­zo­ram

Bharat Heavy elec­tri­cals lim­ited has com­mis­sioned the first unit of Tuirial hy­dro-elec­tric pro­ject in Mi­zo­ram. This is the first large-rat­ing hy­dro power pro­ject in Mi­zo­ram.

The green­field pro­ject is be­ing set up by the North eastern elec­tric Power cor­po­ra­tion lim­ited (Neepco) on the river Tuirial. Power gen­er­a­tion from Tuirial HEP will re­duce green­house gas emis­sions and help achieve a low car­bon de­vel­op­ment path for the na­tion.

The en­tire in­stalled hy­dro ca­pac­ity of Neepco of 755 MW has been supplied and com­mis­sioned by Bhel. The other hy­dro pro­ject of Neepco cur­rently un­der ex­e­cu­tion by Bhel is the Ka­meng HEP in arunachal Pradesh.

in the north­east­ern states, Bhel has in­stalled around 3,100 MW of power gen­er­at­ing ca­pac­ity, ac­count­ing for more than 75 per­cent of the to­tal in­stalled ca­pac­ity in the re­gion in­clud­ing the 726 MW gas­based Pala­tana power pro­ject in Tripura.
