Govt spent ₹1,526 on your health
Wondering how does the government spend on your health? Well, it was exactly ₹1,526 in 2016-17. union health minister JP nadda informed parliament that the per capita expenditure on healthcare by the government – centre and states – was ₹1,108 in 201415. The expenditure was ₹1,251 in 2015-16. in 2017-18, the expenditure is going to be ₹1,797. The spending speaks volume about the sorry state of public health in india. According to the minister, a few states failed to utilise the released funds expeditiously. Letters were issued to the concerned state governments to utilise the funds expeditiously and added that public health being a state subject, primary responsibility of implementation and monitoring of schemes under NHM rests with the state governments.
