In coming years, passports will no longer have the address page. at the same time, the government has decided to move to a two-colour format: orange and navy blue. The orange passport will be issued to people belonging to emigration check required (ecr) category. The blue passport will be issued to the rest. The last page that has details of the holder’s address, parents’ and spouse’s names, etc. Implementing this would take some time and thus new passports will continue to be issued in the old format for the time being. meanwhile, existing passports will remain valid till the expiry date mentioned on them. However, it is still not clear whether passports will no longer be the valid proof of address for official purposes. according to reports, this decision has been taken in view of the concerns expressed by single parents and those with adopted children about the requirement of the name of parents and spouse in the passport.
