Luc­know, Chen­nai, Guwa­hati air­ports to be ex­panded

Air­ports Au­thor­ity of india’s ex­pan­sion and upgra­da­tion plan of in­te­grated ter­mi­nals at chen­nai, guwa­hati and luc­know air­ports has been ap­proved by the cabi­net com­mit­tee on eco­nomic af­fairs.

in or­der to meet the grow­ing avi­a­tion de­mand, AAI has planned in­fra­struc­ture ex­pan­sion of a few air­ports like chen­nai, guwa­hati, luc­know, Agartala, Patna, srinagar, Pune, Trichy, Vi­jayawada, Port Blair, Jaipur, man­ga­lore, dehradun, Ja­balpur, Kol­ha­pur, goa, rupsi, leh, cali­cut, im­phal, Varanasi and Bhubaneswar with a capex of ₹20,178 crore in the next 4-5 years.

The new in­te­grated ter­mi­nal build­ing of luc­know air­port will have an area of 88,000 sq mt along with the ex­ist­ing ter­mi­nal build­ing, hav­ing an area of 16,292 sq mt. it will be able to han­dle com­bined an­nual traf­fic of 13.6 mil­lion pas­sen­gers. The to­tal built-up area of the pro­posed ter­mi­nal build­ing of chen­nai air­port shall be 3,36,000 sq mt with an an­nual ca­pac­ity to han­dle 35 mil­lion pas­sen­gers.

The new ter­mi­nal build­ing of guwa­hati air­port will be spread across 1,02,500 sq mt to han­dle 9 mil­lion pas­sen­gers per an­num.
