Five oil PSUS ink joint ven­ture for north­east gas grid

ajoint ven­ture agree­ment was signed among five petroleum and nat­u­ral gas Psus – namely, iocl, ongc, gail, oil and nrl – in guwa­hati for ex­e­cut­ing the north­east nat­u­ral gas pipeline grid project. it is be­ing seen as a step to­wards PM naren­dra Modi’s am­bi­tious urja ganga gas Pipeline Project.

The for­ma­tion of the JV com­pany is aimed to de­velop, build, op­er­ate and main­tain nat­u­ral gas pipeline grid con­nect­ing guwa­hati with ma­jor north­east­ern cities and load cen­tres like nu­ma­li­garh Re­fin­ery in­clud­ing in­te­grat­ing it with gas pro­duc­ing fields across NE re­gion.

The length of the pro­posed gas pipeline grid is 1,500 km and would be built at ₹6,000 crore. it would be com­mis­sioned within four years.

The com­pany will have equal eq­uity con­tri­bu­tion from all the JV part­ners for de­vel­op­ment of this project.

The project will con­nect the cap­i­tals of all eight north­east­ern states, as­sam, arunachal Pradesh, Megha­laya, Ma­nipur, Mi­zo­ram, na­ga­land, Tripura and sikkim. it will con­nect all ne states to the na­tional gas grid through Ba­rauni-guwa­hati gas pipeline be­ing laid by gail.
