Brand­ing, pro­mo­tion and pri­vate in­vest­ment at his­tor­i­cal sites

The gov­ern­ment has iden­ti­fied 17 his­tor­i­cal sites which will be de­vel­oped un­der the iconic Tourist sites De­vel­op­ment Project. Th­ese sites are: ut­tar Pradesh –Taj Mahal and Fateh­pur sikri; Ma­ha­rash­tra –ajanta & el­lora; Delhi – Hu­mayun’s Tomb, red Fort and Qu­tub Mi­nar; goa – colva beach; ra­jasthan – amer Fort; gu­jarat – som­nath & Dholavira; Mad­hya Pradesh – Kha­ju­raho; Kar­nataka – Hampi; Tamil nadu – Ma­ha­balipu­ram; as­sam – Kazi­ranga; Ker­ala – Ku­marakom; Bi­har – Ma­ha­bodhi. Min­is­ter of state (i/c) for tourism KJ alphons said in the ra­jya sabha that th­ese sites will be de­vel­oped in a holis­tic man­ner fo­cus­ing on is­sues con­cern­ing con­nec­tiv­ity to the des­ti­na­tion, bet­ter fa­cil­i­ties/ex­pe­ri­ence for the tourists at the site, skill de­vel­op­ment, in­volve­ment of lo­cal com­mu­nity, pro­mo­tion and brand­ing and also in­volv­ing pri­vate in­vest­ment.
