Q What brought you to the world of hair­dress­ing?

my fa­ther run a suc­cess­ful bar­ber

shop in Mum­bai and was en­am­ored

by the pro­fes­sion.

Q Tell us about your as­so­ci­a­tion with Ma­trix?

A I joined Ma­trix in 2007, as a Tech­ni­cal Trainer. The op­por­tu­nity to work with the world’s no. 1 Amer­i­can pro­fes­sional brand was a big one. Since then, the jour­ney has been ex­hil­a­rat­ing is many ways. Ed­u­ca­tion is the key dif­fer­en­tia­tor for the brand, which helps hair­styl­ists build on and im­prove their skills through on-trend ed­u­ca­tion sem­i­nars and state-of-theart train­ing pro­grammes. The brand has given me im­mense ex­po­sure as far as evolv­ing tech­niques, tech­nolo­gies, trends and op­por­tu­ni­ties to learn from the Ma­trix in­ter­na­tional de­sign artists. My pro­file in­volves ed­u­cat­ing hair­dressers across var­i­ous lo­ca­tions and of­fer­ing them knowl­edge to en­hance their craft. With the largest net­work of 49 ed­u­ca­tion stu­dios, Ma­trix holds the unique po­si­tion of be­ing the most ac­ces­si­ble pro­fes­sional megabrand that has trained close to two lakh hair­dressers till date.

Q Trend fore­cast for hair­cuts and colours in 2014…

A In­ter­na­tional run­ways will see a lot of short hair­cuts with bangs and tex­tur­is­ing. In terms of hair colour, darker shades like choco­late, chest­nut and ma­hogany will dom­i­nate. We at Ma­trix look for­ward to cre­at­ing in­spir­ing looks with our pro­fes­sional fash­ion colour ranges SoColor and Won­der.Brown.

Q How im­por­tant is it for a stylist to be well-trained as far as hair colour­ing and chem­i­cal treat­ments such as per­ma­nent straight­en­ing are con­cerned?

A Our hair is our crown­ing glory and ac­cen­tu­ates our over­all ap­pear­ance. It can­not be re­paired in­stantly in case of dam­age. It is, there­fore, es­sen­tial for hair­dressers to have com­plete prod­uct knowl­edge as well as prac­tice in or­der to de­liver the right kind of ser­vice to the client.

Q Must-do post colour care rit­u­als...

A An in-salon coloura­tion fol­lowed by styling will leave your hair look­ing, soft and shiny. Opt for Ma­trix Bi­o­lage Color Care sham­poo and con­di­tioner at home for long-last­ing hair colour.
