As smooth as it gets
Trust L’Oréal Professionnel to put safety before beauty. The brand educates stylists and consumers about the hazards of formaldehyde used in several keratin treatments as it introduces its new hair service – Kera-Smooth Treatment.
When L’Oréal Professionnel launched its latest service — Kera-Smooth Treatment — I was interested in its unique concept, thanks largely to the misconceptions about keratin treatments. Naturally, I was eager to find out more. A workshop by Annette Quadros, Senior Technical Trainer, conducted at the Technical Centre, L’Oréal Professionnel, Mumbai, was the right place to be to get the answers to all my queries. Kera-Smooth by L’Oréal Professionnel is a hair smoothening treatment that gives you frizz-free, softer and more nourished hair with controlled volume and, most importantly, without the use of formaldehyde. It takes forward the brand’s mantra of safety before beauty. In keeping with this philosophy, L’Oréal Professionnel has introduced Kera-Smooth Treatment, which uses products from the X-tenso range. The new treatment gives you natural looking, straight hair and requires no heating appliance. This is an additional treatment to meet the customer demand of straight hair with a natural bounce. The earlier straightening services — Pro Keratin Shine
“Kera-Smooth Treatment is for customers who want definition in hair but prefer to retain the natural volume and not get a poker straight look. Apart from the look, this treatment is great for someone looking for a safe service. And it is also time-effective as it takes just about 2.5 hours,” says Simi Keer, Head of Education, L’Oréal Professionnel India
Annette conducting a workshop and hands-on training session for stylists at the L’Oréal Technical Centre, Mumbai Straight and Pro Keratin Shine Bond will continue to be on offer. In the Kera-Smooth Treatment, the step involving heating appliance is replaced by the use of fingers as products are continuously emulsified, resulting in the sealing of cuticles. With this treatment, you can smoothen up to two levels of curled hair. There should be no washing, tying or tucking of hair for 48 hours post-treatment. For re-growth, the products need to be applied only on the new hair. You can take the products through the mid-lengths in the last five minutes. Speaking about the after-care, Simi said, “We recommend the use of protective, nourishing haircare products post the treatment to maintain the benefits. L’Oréal Professionnel’s X-tenso Care Shampoo and Masque should be used for best results.” Wait no more, ladies. Get those lustrous bouncy locks in no time now.
