Hair - - Season’s Best -

When it comes to lip and nail colour, orange is the new red and nude is the mood. Models at Nanette Lepore, Donna Karan, Prabal Gurung, Christian Siriano, Rag & Bone and DKNY sported vivacious hues of cherry orange. At DNKY, make-up artists mixed Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Electric Orange and Neon Red and then blotted it for a slightly matte finish. At DSquared2, make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury gave the girls super-shiny mandarin-- coloured mouths to reflect the collection’s 1950s Hollywood feel. At Prabal Gurung, the red-orange lip was juxtaposed with an almost opalescent complexion. Cherag Bamboatt recommends dark cherry to stain the lip followed by a bright lipstick, “It’s an amazing base to hold colour in place,” he adds. For stand-out finger tips, choose from matt nails, metallic nails and matt, nude nails. An interesting look that we absolutely loved was at the NY Fashion Week where the French manicure appeared with a twist: nail techs used matt and glossy finishes in the same colour instead of the white and pink used for a traditional French mani. Seen at Nicholas K and Prabal Gurung in black and intense yellow respectively, it’s a trend to watch out for. Matt nails have also made a comeback in nude as well as solid colours, the former being a lot more in trend, having been spotted at the Victoria Beckham, Proenza Schouler and DSquared2 shows. In colours, yellow and black made the most appearances — from Prabal Gurung to Burberry. Metallic and petrol hues are statement-making and intriguing. Elie Saab, Nina Ricci, Antipodium and Sophia Webster all used shiny as well as matt metallic hues to dress up fingertips.
