Meet the girl behind the face that’s inching its way into the limelight — Anisa Butt. KANISHKA RAMCHANDANI in conversation with the newest beauty in tinsel town.
Q How did you start off with modelling and acting?
A I was always involved in school plays and music was a big part of my life at home (my mum loves it!). While dance was a part of the growing-up years, the acting bug got me bad in high school.
Q Tell us about your big break.
A I got selected for a Hindi film in the UK. I was flown down to Mumbai for a look test and workshops. Although that project didn’t hit the floors, here I was where I wanted to be… and so it all began.
Q How do you maintain your gorgeous skin?
A My mom taught me from a young age to look after my skin. Since my teens, I have made sure I always remove make-up before sleeping. I use a good cleanser, suitable for my skin type, and a moisturiser. Drinking water and adding fruits and veggies to one’s diet also helps.
Q Which products are your go-to options for skincare?
A I don’t specifically stick to one product. My skin is combination type — sometimes oily and sometimes dry. I like using No. 7 skincare products (not currently available here). Lakme, too, has a nice range. I also use H2O, a natural skincare range, and it’s fab!

Q Which make-up trend are you currently hearting?
A I love smoky eyes! But I sadly can’t do it myself. Generally, I go with kajal, blusher and tinted lips.
Q One make-up product that you simply cannot do without…
A I love the blusher as it gives the right kind of glow to one’s face. I prefer blushers by M.A.C.
Q What kind of haircare routine do you follow?
A With hair products, my way is the trial and error one. I love Kérastase products as well as argan oil-based ones. I like to go for hair spas as weather and styling damages the hair. I also get a trim every couple of months to keep split ends at bay.
Q Do you follow a fitness schedule?
A Fitness is a passion. I love working out! From running to functional training, I really enjoy it every day and hate missing workouts. Currently, I’m doing high interval cardio and functional training.
Q How do you unwind after a long day at work?
A I like to listen to music or watch a nice film or sometimes meet up with friends.
Q In your handbag, you always carry…
A …powder puff, hand cream and mosquito repellent.
Q What is your idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day date?
A Although I think Valentine’s Day is a little overrated, being the romantic person that I am, I feel a nice dinner with that special someone would be pretty awesome on a date.
Q Your look for such a date would be…
A I love dresses and high-waisted skirts. I would combine either one of them with a few accessories and finish off my look with fresh, blow-dried hair.
Q For you, love is…
A Love is and means something different to everyone. I feel it is caring for someone before your own self.
Q Tell us about your upcoming projects...
A I am currently completing the shoot of my new film Ikka Top, in which you will see me as Rachel in two new avatars. I am also busy with some events and my dance for an ongoing show.
Q Any skincare tips that you can share with our readers?
A Start your day with probiotic food such as Yakult, and veggies or fruit juices, as they contains vitamins and minerals essential for the skin. Get a good stretch of beauty sleep every night, fit in a workout schedule for those feel-good hormones and add a pinch of love to complete your beauty ritual.
