S ummer is the time to show off you tans and super outfits. But what’s a good attire without a good hairdo? We speak to Zingranwon Shatsang, creative director, Zido Salon, Mumbai, to show us four hairstyles that can be teamed with the most practical summer looks.

FLORAL SUMMER DRESSES TEAMED WITH A MESSY BUN

Nothing works better during summers than an updo. But we definitely wouldn’t recommend a boring bun. Instead, you can opt for a messy bun that is both stylish and do-able during summers. With a floral dress, it will add on to your girly charm.

If you have straight hair, just twist it up into a simple, messy bun with a few ends poking out and you’re set. Curly hair will need some more attantion. Apply a hair styling gel and curl control mousse on your tresses before blowdrying it. Tie all the hair into a ponytail and divide it into three parts. Twist each section before you pin them around the base, forming a bun. Secure the bun using bobby pins and spray a finishing product.

JUMPSUITS WITH MESSY SIDE BRAIDS

If a vacation is on your mind, jumpsuits are an absolute must. This versatile outfit comes in various styles and can be dressed up or down with accessories such as cool bags, flip flops, light shrugs, etc. Since most jumpsuits are either off-shouldered or spaghetti strapped, a trendy side braid will win you the ‘wows’.

Spritz a styling spray from a distance onto your roots. Gather all the hair to one side and divide it into three equal parts to make a plait. Next, take a backcombing brush and gently rake the braid in an upward direction, moving from ends to the starting point of the braid. Do this till you get the perfect degree of messiness, after which you can seal the look with a finishing spray.

WHITE PANTS AND LIGHT JACKETS WITH SLEEK STRAIGHT HAIR

One thing to be pushed to the back of your closet in summers is your denim. Instead, opt for airy white pants along with light shirts and cotton jackets. This look can be carried to work when teamed with sleek straight hair.

Spritz some anti-frizz serum on damp hair and blow-dry it. With the help of a paddle brush, tidy your locks and iron them with a tong, section by section. Make sure your trimmed fringe is in perfect condition. Use a shine spray to complete the look. For the night look, push your fringe back with a big brooch hairband.

SHORTS AND KNOTTED SHIRTS WITH BEACHY WAVES

Summers mean numerous trips to the shores. Glam it up for your beach trips with knotted t-shirts in cool colours along with a hot pair of shorts. This look is not only a Bollywood favourite, it is also one of the most practical ones and can be carried to malls and movies too. Team it with cool beachy waves and let them know you have arrived.

Divide the hair into four equal sections and then braid every section till the ends. The intensity of the waves will depend on how tight the braids are; so if you are looking at achieving loose waves, make sure you braid the hair into a loose plait. Attach a diffuser to the hairdryer and dry your hair completely. Use a hair spray before opening up the plaits. Gently scrunch your open tresses and you’re ready.
