Chatting up Evelyn Sharma
How did you get your first break?
I came to India as a model and worked a lot in TV commercials and ad campaigns. I think that helped a great deal in getting my first break. Producers and directors started calling me for movie auditions and so I gave Bollywood a shot. And it has all worked out better than I ever imagined!
How were you in your growing up years?
I grew up in a simple way in a small town in Germany. My mother loved to go for hikes and walks through the forests, so I am used to trekking a lot. The German landscape is so beautiful and unique! I think there is nothing like a golden autumn in Germany — the leaves turn red and orange, and when the golden sun shines, it looks like the trees are on fire.
What do you like the most about Hindi film industry?
The Hindi film industry, I hear, is the biggest film industry in the world, which really makes me proud to be a part of it. And, of course, I like Bollywood and its share of song and dance.
What haircare regime do you follow?
Being an actor, I get my hair done almost every day, causing a lot of damage. I have to use hair sprays, curling irons and what not! I have figured out that the most important things are a good shampoo and conditioner from a professional brand. Also, I oil my hair twice or thrice a week with a mix of castor oil and aloe vera gel — it works wonders to rehydrate the hair and washes out easily. Drinking lots of water is the secret to great hair and skin.
Tell us something about your skincare routine.
I religiously go through the same procedure every morning and night — a mild make-up remover, face wash, a scrub every alternate day, a toner and finally a good moisturiser with SPF for the day. Sunscreens are beauty essentials; even my foundation has SPF. Scrubbing is the only way to renew your skin cells naturally and remove black heads easily. Above all, maintain a healthy diet and drink lots of water as beauty is best achieved inside out.
How often do you indulge in spa treatments?
Oh I’m totally addicted to spas! I would go every day if I had the time. I think it’s the one way to relax and enjoy a bit of luxury and come out all glowing. I try to get a hair treatment done at least once a month, get my regular mani-pedis and relaxing massages. I get a foot massage almost every time I go to the airport.
How do you unwind after a tiring day?
I wear my pajamas, drink tea, watch movies, and just go sleep cuddling my cat Luii. Just like my cat, I love to sleep.
Finally, a beauty secret you would love to share…
Argan oil! Just rub two-three drops onto your face after a scrub. It works magic on your skin!
